Results since the last post:
(win/place/lose)
$6 qualifiers: 0/2/2
$33 qualifiers: 0/0/3
So-so results. I made some mistakes that I regret, and have come to realize that I ran well the first 3 days. I need to refocus my play as I'm falling a little too much on auto-pilot and allowing myself to get occasionally distracted.
In the $6 tournies, I bubbled one for an $11 cash, and the other didn't have enough players to pay a ticket (only 4 played) and I won that one for $11. So, overall, I was only ($2).
In the $33 tourneys, I've been getting knocked out mid pack (10/24, 14/23, 23/34). The success I had in the first 3 days stemmed from me getting into good situations and/or getting lucky to double my stack early. I play very well when I have more chips than the others. When I'm a little below average, I have a tougher time picking my spots correctly. So what has been happening is that I'll be around starting stack (3k) at the blinds of 50/100 or 60/120. I'm trying to continue to follow my opening hard range tables, but at the same time try to find good spots to accumulate chips. I'll have to possibly review the knockout hands more and see if I'm trying to be too aggressive in marginal spots.
I used 1 ticket and bought in for the other two, so I'm ($66) here.
Overall results:
+$103
1x$300 ticket.
I also spent some time checking out today's $300 tourney. It was my daugther's birthday today so I wasn't able to play. The tourney started at 3:20P and was still running at 8:00P, so I took advantage and wrote up some notes on player finishes. There were 79 players total, and it ended up lasting 5h40m, paying 3 WPT seats, with 4th getting 2.5k, 5th getting 1.5k and 6th getting 1k. The one thing I noticed was how many of the qualifiers were knocked out in the first 1/4 of the players. The blinds are 20 minutes, so I'll have to remind myself that there will be plenty of play at each level without having to push.
Wish me luck this week. If all goes well, I will be using my ticket in next Sunday's $300 tourney and hopefully I'll earn myself another couple of seats as well.

WPT in Montreal
The WPT is coming to Montreal in November. Party Poker is offering satellites to the $3000+$300 main event, and I'm going to try and qualify. Check out the qualifying structure here. The satellites started on Monday and I have been playing as much as I can within my schedule, which means the two $6 at 9:15P and 10:45P, and the $33 at 8:45P.
So far I have played 5 $6 qualifiers and 4 $33 qualifiers. I got lucky on Tuesday because Party Poker's servers had issues and they pushed the 3:20PM $33 qualifier, which was maybe 10 minutes in progress, to 8PM to finish. So I was able to play an extra $33
Results so far have been excellent.
Monday night: $6 1/1, $33 0/1
Tuesday night: $6 0/2, $33 1/2
Wednesday night: $6 1/2, $33 1/1
I've bought in for $6*5 + $33*3 and currently have 1 $300 ticket and 1 $33 ticket remaining. When you win a second entry to the same event, Party credits your account with tournament dollars, so I also now have $300 tournament dollars to use on my future buy-ins. I've outlayed $123 cash, so I'm up $177 case with $333 worth of tournament tickets left.
I'll keep you guys up to speed again on the week-end for how things go tomorrow and Friday.
